Big Kid Catchup

I've been meaning to write milestone blogs on each kiddo for months now, so I figured I'd just throw together some photos as a substitute. :)

Tyler
Our kindergartner (!) began big-kid school on Aug. 15. I was happy to NOT be delivering a baby that day so I didn't miss out. He was so excited and so ready! His two buds from across the street also started kindergarten, and one was even in his class! We walked to the bus stop, where we met a bunch of other kindergartners (at least 6 total at our stop alone; our neighborhood is packed with kids!) ... Flash forward to now. First quarter has ended, and Tyler got a great report. His teacher referred to him as "high achieving" and said he never gets into trouble yet still has made great friends. He's super interested in reading and knows a lot of sight words. It's been great to see him take an interest in reading finally!!

Sportswise, Tyler did baseball May-June and did great! Then he did soccer camp in July and came home with three medals (two for individual achievements and one for winning a two-on-two scrimmage with a teammate). In August-September, he participated in a Y soccer league with some boys from his old team and some kids from the neighborhood. They had a great team, and some of the kids (including Tyler) are starting indoor soccer in just a few weeks!

Oh, and Tyler has lost two teeth (which we pulled via the Gator, which Alivia drove. super funny!).

And he's learned to ride his bike! Here he is getting the concept down (still a little wobbly, but he figured it out!).

Alivia

Our firecracker started preschool on Sept. 5! She was so cute - her preschool offers a 2-day-per-week class for 2.5-year-olds, and barely any, including her, can reach their coat hooks. :) She loves school and has made some friends that she talks about a lot. They do a lot of painting, playing, singing and letter identification from what I can gather.

Alivia is incredibly sharp, with a great memory and excellent verbal skills. She's VERY independent, so we hear "I do it!" a LOT every day. Her listening skills definitely need work, but that comes with the age.

Her favorites right now include watching "Despicable Me," doing crafts/coloring, and mimicing Tyler.

We've had a great time together during my maternity leave. We've done some baking, which she helps with very well, and made trips to the mall, library and more.

As of last month, she was 26 pounds, 12 ounces, and 35.5 inches tall. (25th and 35th percentiles)
