ONE Year!

Happy 1st birthday, Alivia Kate!

Few children have had the type of first year Alivia has. There are parts of the past year I wish she'd never had to endure, but she weathered it like the fighter she is and never stopped smiling. It was a challenging year, but a great one. A really, really great one.


1-year stats:


Weight: 18 lbs, 1 oz (10th percentile or so). I had hoped to be closer to 19 lbs, but we had a few setbacks. Hopefully by 13 months we're close!

Height: 28.5 inches


Milestones: Walking/running everywhere! She also can stand up without assistance, accurately make the signs for "dog," "all done," and "more;" escape nearly any room or barrier; and can eat table foods MUCH better now. Her vocabulary also is expanding, and she loves blowing kisses or leaning in for the real thing. She's also a bit of a diva these days - demanding you pick her up when she wants. She'll even grab a blanket for you to put on your shoulder beforehand so she has something soft to lay her head on.


Likes: Foodwise, she's liking shredded cheese, Cheerios, soup of all kinds and Chef Boyrdee ravioli, as well as most snack-type foods. She also likes Elmo, baths, and her new tea set and picnic basket from her birthday.

She dozed off last night waiting for dinner. Oops!

Alivia is having a great week now that she's feeling better and is doing GREAT at trying new foods. She's eating more "real" food than ever before. YAY! It's such a relief to have something good happening after the stressful week she (we) had.
